Simple Peach and Applesauce Jello Salad
Ahhhhh, peaches. I love them. I’m from the great state of Colorado, otherwise known as the peach state! Yeah, yeah, I know Georgia claims peaches but they’re just being selfish! ….Don’t tell me you didn’t know Colorado is famous for more than their stunning mountainous landscapes, the Emmy award winning (I’m just making that up) show South Park (that part is true), and the original cheeseburger?! Yes, Colorado peaches are an end of summer favorite. Every August, our family would head to the peach orchards and fill up several cases that my mom would prepare and freeze for a delightful treat during the long, cold winters (now this sound more like a scene out of Little House on the Prairie). There are so many ways to enjoy a good peach, but one of my favorites is in a jello salad. For this delectable dish, you will need:
- Glass bowl – I love using these vintage inspired glass Pyrex bowls
- 6 oz. peach flavored jello
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups applesauce
- 1 large peach (skinned and sliced)
This truly takes less than 10 minutes to mix up (longer to set, obviously) and is a great side dish to take along to those end of summer celebrations, bbq, neighborhood shindigs, etc. So, let’s whip up this simple peach and applesauce jello salad, shall we? You’re going to need to:
- Heat water over the stove until boiling
- Pour water into the glass bowl and mix in the peach jello mix until dissolved
- Pour applesauce into the bowl and mix until combined
- Add in freshly sliced and skinned peaches
- Put bowl into the refrigerator and chill until set (around 4 hours)
SO easy, right? I seriously adore this salad. Sometimes, I make it and keep it all to myself (because a mama needs a treat, guys). Plus, my kids don’t understand how delish jello salad actually is (what’s WRONG with them??!). Make sure to serve cold and store in the refrigerator for up to three days. But let me tell you, it won’t last that long.
Now, you’ve been armed with the tools necessary to make a bomb jello salad! How cool is that?? Make sure to let me know when you try this one and for another easy crowd-pleasing treat, head over here! I can’t wait to hear what you think and don’t forget to try a few of those Colorado peaches! Until next time, peace, love, & light.
