Looking for a way to make an absolute slimy mess that will probably stick in every nook and cranny in your home and drive you absolutely batty? Terrific! Have I the activity for you! Alright, seriously, it’s not *that* bad. In fact, it’s actually fantastic and I’m a big fan. I’ve been trying to fill our Halloween week with easy (key word) crafts and snacks so when I found a recipe for pumpkin spice slime I went all in!
Pumpkin Spice…Slime?
That’s right. It’s slime. With a pinch of pumpkin spice. So it’s your regular run of the mill slime only it’s been fall-i-fied. We’re taking the art of slime-making up a notch, my friends. I have to tell you, I was skeptical. Normally, I would say “sign me up” for pumpkin spice any day of the week, any time of the year. I’m all for pumpkin spice…in my pie, latte, candles, dish soap, and cookies, but SLIME?! Tell. Me. More.
Supplies for Pumpkin Spice Slime:
- 1/2 cup Elmer’s glue
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp. pumpkin spice*
- Red & Yellow food coloring
- Glitter**
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 3 tbsp. saline solution
*You can find this in most grocery stores this time of the year. Or, mix nutmeg and cinnamon as a substitute
**I found a great assortment of glitter here!
Is that 13.5 POUNDS of Baking Soda?
Yes. Yes it is. We are a family of seven and buying in bulk is serious business. We go on a Costco run every 2-3 weeks. I make a list for Derek with items that we need in bulk and I will also include items that we can pick up at our local grocer. At some point last YEAR, Derek took my local grocery list and bulked it up. Now, we own 13.5 pounds of baking soda.
Moving on…How to Make Pumpkin Spice Slime:
- Mix the water and glue together
- Add food coloring, pumpkin spice, and glitter
- Mix together
- Add baking soda and mix
- Add saline solution and mix*
*You will notice the substance turn to slime once you begin stirring the saline solution. If the slime is too sticky, add in a little more baking soda.
The whole family had fun with this one, folks. I have to tell you, the room smelled like a bakery! Really, the slime smelled SO good, the four year old *almost* took a big bite of it. Be warned.
This is such a fun slime recipe that is quick to whip up with ingredients you probably have lying around the house! The kids played for over an hour while I cleaned up from our “Saucy Snake and Vampire Bread” (spaghetti and garlic bread) dinner. I absolutely love the fun fall twist on a kid-favorite!
