There are a few things that I change like underwear. One of them — other than underwear — is curtains. At least, I would *like* to change them often. The problem is that curtains can be spendy — to say the least. Not to mention the time it takes to browse to find the right set that won’t break the bank. But, it’s amazing how a new set of curtains can change a space in no time with minimal effort. So, I was thrilled when a dear Instagram friend shared her curtain hack with me and I hope that you also fall in love with this no sew curtain DIY.
I was scrolling through Instagram (as you do) and stopped to ogle over Mercedes’ @thesimplyblessednest living room curtains. I sent her a quick DM asking where she found her sets of gorgeous curtains because, hello, add to cart! She told me that they were….wait for it….sheets. “Like, bed sheets??” I asked. “Yes!” she quickly typed. Color me shocked. I asked about how they were able to hang, if they required some amount of sewing, etc. Turns out, they make handy dandy little curtain clips — no sewing involved. WHAT?! *Inhale….exhale….* Let’s do this!
No Sew Curtain DIY – You Will Need:
- Extra long twin bed sheets. Emphasis on extra long. The extra length will provide the fabric necessary to fold for the top and give you a nice draped look at the bottom. For this project, I did a quick search on Amazon and found this set of six sheets here.
- Drapery curtain clips. I bought two sets of these clips off of Amazon as well. They do make different sizes based on the diameter of the curtain rod.
Fold, Clip, and Hang!
- First, lay out one sheet and fold the top down until you have about 8 to 10 inches of overlap (you can do more or less depending on the size of your windows and height of the curtain rod.
- Start clipping the curtain clips to the top of the fold starting from one side and working your way over. I spaced my clips about 8 or so inches apart (again, you can adjust to fit the look that you want to achieve).
- Hang, fluff, and admire your new set of curtains! Easy peasy.
I am in love with these sheet-curtains! They really brighten up the boys’ room and add height to the space. Also…they are inexpensive. Which is a huge plus when we’re talking about curtains in a room shared by three little boys that are often, well, a mess. I love them. But they are just a sticky, dirty, wonderful crew of chaos. So I really don’t want to invest in anything that I don’t want smeared with mud, chocolate, or poop (gross, but true story).
This was a total win and I’m actually thinking about adding a few more sets like this around the house (maybe the dining room). So, stay tuned! Let me know if you have tried or will try this sheet to curtain hack!
