•• Pajamas on, shirts off, lost in their imaginations — these homeschool days are my favorite days. They are in a space where they are loved, safe, accepted — their needs are being met in a way that fits who they are as humans and how their brains work. ••

•• They explore their world and question everything — encouraged to think critically, to not assume or accept that every adult knows better. They’re allowed to simply be, to exist outside of the box. These days are my favorite days. ••

•• This is a privilege for us, one that I don't take for granted-- I'm the daughter of two incredible public educators and loved my work as a public school counselor -- love & support to our public schools & educators. Thank you for what you do. ••

•• It should be no surprise that I am a bleeding heart with a progressive mind and an empathetic soul. Setting aside all of the issues I care deeply about, I would still elect compassion above callousness, kindness above cruelty, an open heart above intolerance, a veracity for the truth above fallacy, a steadiness for understanding above thoughtlessness, and gentle but bold encouragement above intimidation and fear.

I’ve lived a life filled with experience that has offered me perspective — we all have unique perspectives that come from our own lives, personal histories, and the people who surround us. History has shown us time and again the consequences of applauding narcissism, allowing hatred a stage — permitting it power. Nothing good comes from that place.

While the world and the internet can be cesspool for spewing hate — I believe humanity can be better. Listen to and look for the people who elevate hope, peace, and love. Good leadership comes from a place absent of hate.
